Michael Hutchinson is Swampy Cree from the Treaty 5 area and a member of the Misipawistik Cree Nation. He wrote the Mighty Muskrats Mystery series to educate young Canadians, build pride in First Nation and impoverished youth, and create a better Canadian and First Nations relationship.

The four Cree cousins are on school break, but this is no ordinary summer-a movie is being filmed in Windy Lake First Nation. As Sam, Otter, Atim, and Chickadee are helping take care of the cast and crew and showing them all their community has to offer, an important piece of movie equipment goes missing. With filming halted and Windy Lake's reputation at stake, the Mighty Muskrats are on the case. The cousins must find the culprits and get the filmmaking back on track!
